Summer

Goodness me! I have not written anything for the longest time. I have been too busy spending time with Gerald. It has really been a wonderful start to my summer. I went for a walk the other day through my garden and I could not believe how completely beautiful everything looked. Most of the flowers are in full bloom. This is going to be a wonderful summer. I can already feel it.

An Original Poem

My new blogging friend Emmie's poem has inspired me to write a poem of my very own. I've been working on it diligently for a few days now, and I have finally completed it.

A World Without You

In a world without you
I couldn't help but weep.
Weep and weep.
Cry and cry.

In a world without you
I couldn't help but think.
Think about you.
At all times.
At all hours.

In a world without you
I couldn't help but worry.
That you would never come.
Never ever ever.

Please inform me of your opinion of the poem. Although I do not fear a bit of constructive criticism, please be gentle and forgiving. This is my first original poem.

Poem

This is a beautiful poem I found while searching a gardening forum.

Springtime
Oh, spring came to my garden
And caught it unaware
Wearing just a few old leaves
And a dejected air.

But when spring left my garden,
Its work so deftly done,
Many, many Daffodils
Were dancing in the sun.
-Velma D. BATES.

If only I had daffodils dancing in the sun in my garden. The weather has been poor, making my gardening a laborious task.

My First Date

Ladies, I must tell you of my first date with Gerald! It was magical. First, Gerald picked me up. He blind folded me and said he was taking me on the date of my dreams. Excitedly, I got in the car. He put on Mozart, my favorite, and began driving. After what felt like an eternity, he removed the blind fold and I could see that we were at the concert hall. My heart fluttered and skipped a beat. Then Gerald said with a smile "I bought us two tickets to see a concert of the life and music of Tchaikovsky." I was flattered. The music was spectacular. Gerald seemed so thrilled to be sitting to the right of me. After the concert, we went to a pristine cafe. We sipped tea and discussed the concert. Gerald is quiet but he only had positive comments about the show. We both agreed that this piece was quite our favorite.

At the end of the night, Gerald drove me home. He walked me to the door and bid me good night. Then he kissed me on the cheek. How romantic!

Enchanting Evening

Goodness me! I cannot believe I have slept in so late. I woke up at 8 and had breakfast on the veranda. Ann was taken aback when she saw me walk down the stairs at 8 completely spent. She brought me some tea and toast, and almost commenced laughing at the hilarity of the situation. Regardless, I had a delightful night last night. Kelby and I went to the ball together. When we arrived, I noticed Gerald was there immediately so Kelby and I went to talk to him. He acted very bashful and I was quite surprised at the time. After many up tempo songs, there was finally a slow song. Gerald meandered towards me. I was extremely jubilant when he asked me to dance. When I said yes, he seemed to become relieved. We went out onto the floor and he became rid of his bashfulness. We started out quite far apart and then somehow we started to dance closer and closer. For the entirety of the ball, we did not take our eyes off each other. It was picturesque. After the ball we went out with Kelby and some of his friends. It seemed almost concerted as everyone left the table to "visit the lav." Promptly after everyone had left, Gerald kissed me on the cheek and asked me if I would be his girlfriend. I was so exuberant and I clearly said yes. When everyone returned, they seemed to have the sliest grins on their faces. I asked Kelby later why she did not tell me of this extraordinary event. She said she did not want to spoil the surprise. I completely understand and I actually felt kind of fortunate that she kept it under wraps. I was really a magnificent night.

Marvelous Night

I had the most marvelous time at the End of the Year Ball. Gerald was there! I have so much to tell you all but I am too exhausted to fill you in as of now. I will share it tomorrow. Sleep well everyone.

End of the Year Ball

Tonight is the end of the year ball. I am ecstatic that this year is coming to a close. The ball begins soon and my hair is flawless. My hairdresser Louise put it up into the most dazzling clip. My dress is the most beautiful sapphire blue. I hope Gerald will be at the ball tonight. He is the most attractive and chivalrous young man I have ever seen. I feel so grand and I hope he can see me tonight. Maybe we will even dance together.
